Season 2 of An Klondike makes US Premiere on Acorn TV as Dominion Creek

Beginning today, April 24, the second season of An Klondike (aka Dominion Creek) will be available to U.S. audiences on Acorn TV, a streaming service specializing in world-class TV from Ireland, the UK, and beyond. Emmy®-nominated Acorn TV features exclusive U.S. Premieres of new international dramas, mysteries, and comedies every week.

Season 2 of Dominion Creek picks up a few weeks after the events that brought the first season to a close and continues the story of the Connolly brothers as they struggle to forge an empire for themselves during the Klondike gold rush of the 1890’s. The Connollys are united, and have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the territory, but against a backdrop of growing lawlessness, the Connollys must face a challenge that threatens all they hold dear: family…friends…gold.

“Acorn TV is thrilled to offer the U.S. Premiere of Dominion Creek,” said Don Klees, RLJE’s Vice President of Programming, Acorn brands.  Klees added, “There’s probably no genre that’s more iconic for Americans than the Western. Seeing that kind of story being filtered through another cultural lens and portrayed by a great cast made the show irresistible.”

"Our ambition with An Klondike was to create a drama series that could be shown anywhere in the world," said Dathaí Keane, series creator and director. "It is a series that tells a uniquely Irish story but in a way that will appeal to audiences worldwide and it's a testament to the quality of the production, and the very high calibre of the work of everyone who was involved, that international broadcasters and platforms like Acorn have acquired the series."

Feature Length Version of An Klondike to Premiere on TG4

TG4 have announced that the feature length version of An Klondike will be one of the highlights of their viewing schedule this holiday season. An Klondike was selected as the Closing Film at this year's Galway Film Fleadh and has since enjoyed a great response from audiences at festival screenings in the UK and Europe.

"An Klondike was initially conceived as a drama series," says series creator and director Dathaí Keane, "but we approached the filming of the series in the same way as you would a feature film and when the opportunity presented itself to cut a feature length version of the story I knew that the material was there, and that it had a natural cinematic quality. It was a case of concentrating on the core story of the Connolly brothers and distilling their journey down to its essence.”

“It was important that the feature length cut worked as a story in its own right so we ended up going out and filming some new scenes that were not in the series, including a new ending. There are also a couple of scenes that didn’t make it into the series that are in the film version so viewers that have already watched the series will be in for a few surprises.”

An Klondike will be broadcast on TG4 on St. Stephen’s Day at 21:40
